We've gathered thousands of hours of beehive audio from all over the world to bring you the BuzzBox Hive Health Monitor. Our team of data scientists have built a system that can automatically tell you how your bees are doing based on input from the kit's microphone, and you'll get updates on your smart phone in real time.
We can currently track the following states:
- Empty/Collapsed
- Active/Normal
- Pre-Swarm/Swarm
- Missing Queen
Just like a Tesla, we can broadcast over-the-air product updates to the entire BuzzBox fleet, so as we get more data from you, we'll add new hive classifications.

The BuzzBox App is available for both Android and iOS. Developed by Stanfy, we're in active beta and are constantly adding new features based on feedback from beekeepers and our community. Check out the collaboration section below to tell us what you want to see!
Stay tuned as we add more hive states when the data comes back from the field:
- Varroa Mites
- Wax Moths
- Pesticide Toxicity
- More to come...

We're working with an accredited lab to gather data from 24 hives exposed to a variety of pesticides. We sincerely hope that bees exposed to pesticides emit a unique audio signal that we can detect. The results will start to come through at the beginning of August, 2017, and if they're positive, we'll begin adding pesticide-detecting features to the BuzzBox. Imagine receiving immediate warning when your bees face toxicity sickness. This line of thought opens up a variety of exciting possibilities, so watch this space for updates.

The heart of the project is our beehive audio classification system. Using a growing database of beehive audio and metadata, we've added a hive health monitor to the BuzzBox app so you know what your bees are doing in real time.
